The Elementary Functions is a collection of functions for which we know a lot about their algebraic properties.

They include

  • constant, linear, quadratic, cubic, and other polynomials
  • rationals
  • roots and radicals
  • exponentials and logarithmic
  • trigonometric
  • absolute value, greatest integer, other individual piecewise defined functions

This section will just introduce the library of elementary functions with some basic defining features. We will develop the algebra in future sections.

Learning Outcomes

In this section, students will

  • be introduced to the library.
  • identify basic defining features and characteristics.
