Learning Outcomes
After completing this section, students should be able to do the following.
- Use various units of length, area and volume as part of data collection and interpretation.
- Use histograms to characterize the shape of data.
- Be able to define upper and lower specification limits, and use them to identify defective parts.
- Be able to estimate the number of defective parts, resulting from a manufacturing process with a given mean, standard deviation, and specs.
- Be able to discuss various quality standards, such as 0-defects, and six-sigma.
- Be able to discuss the meaning of accuracy and precision.
