If you have a function of the form $f(x) = \dfrac {p(x)}{q(x)}$ , the derivative of $f(x), f'(x)$ is not $\dfrac {p'(x)}{q'(x)}$ .
The quotient rule says that if $f(x) = \dfrac {p(x)}{q(x)}$ , then $f'(x) = \dfrac {q(x)p'(x)-p(x)q'(x)}{q^2(x)}$ .
